Top 25 Hit Premieres at Billboard Today
02 AUGUST 2017 (Toronto, ON) – Toronto-based Pop Rock trio NEW CITY today releases the video for their Top 25 single Dirty Secrets.
Directed by Sean McLeod (Matthew Good, City and Colour, LYON), the
video was filmed in a Niagara Falls motel room and premieres today via Billboard, who note “with the irresistible pop sensibilities of NEW CITY, they are a secret you’ll want to share.”

Adrian Mitchell reveals in an interview with the magazine “we wrote the
songs after some wild nights in LA. It was easy to write because it was
inspired by true events; the track came together really naturally. And
come on, everyone has dirty secrets, and we want to embrace them in this
song.”
Declared by Earmilk to be “the perfect addition to your summer playlist,” the single follows the success of the band’s debut Coachella, released in June via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Clash magazine dubbed the song, which has amassed over 1.3 million streams, a “perfect pop confection.”

CITY’s overnight success follows years of dedication from Mitchell, Jed
Webster (guitar), and Nathan Brown (drums). “You wouldn’t think this
would be our path,” Brown admits. “Jed and I took a huge risk moving out
of our small town up in New Brunswick and heading to Toronto to pursue
music. We literally slept on a basement floor for two years, working on
music every day. Towards the end of it, when we met Adrian, we
immediately connected on a songwriting level and around our love of
different genres, from electronics and beats, to rock, to R&B and
soul. It was all three of us in there; we wrote so many of our songs in
that basement apartment.”
