26 MAY 2017 (TORONTO, ON) – Earlier this month, Norwegian pop-art songstress Dagny teased her fans with a video on Instagram. Today, the wait is over as she uncovers her brand new single “Wearing Nothing” available via Republic Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.
On the song Dagny notes: “When we were getting video treatments for “Wearing Nothing” earlier this spring everyone kept sending treatments that ended with… ’And then Dagny takes her clothes off.’ I would laugh, because some of them were just wild. The song is called “Wearing Nothing” but it’s not just about wanting to be naked with someone. It’s about wanting to be completely bare with someone and to be as close as possible both emotionally and physically even to the point where a piece of clothing feels like too much in-between. I believe it’s my most intimate song to date.”
With its upbeat percussion and undeniable chant, “Wearing Nothing” is a musical declaration in its purest form. The chorus, “When I’m with you, I feel like wearing nothing,” is an empowering message within the artist’s passionate delivery. The track was produced by Ludvig Söderberg (Tove Lo, Ellie Goulding and Tori Kelly) who is a member of “Wolf Cousins,” the production team under Max Martin/Shellback and hints at big things to come from DAGNY in 2017.
Recently, as part of the newest group of VEVO dscvr “Ones To Watch” artists for 2017, VEVO has released two live performances from DAGNY’s unforgettable VEVO dscvr:Live show. Shot in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, both songs show off DAGNY’s incredible stage presence and power as a performer after countless shows and festivals around the globe. Check out the video for “Ultraviolet” Here and “Let It Rain” Here.
“Wearing Nothing” is the follow up track after DAGNY quietly sent shockwaves throughout the music industry in 2016. Post a high-profile Beats 1 premiere by tastemaker Zane Lowe, “Backbeat” transformed into a veritable smash, racking up a staggering nearly 30 million Spotify streams as Apple, Spotify, and Tidal pegged her as an “Artist To Watch” and Interview Magazine, NME, Nylon, Forbes, and more lauded her. She teamed up with BØRNS for “Fool’s Good,” which cracked 9.4 million streams and highlighted her Ultraviolet EP. Beyond opening gigs for Sir Elton John and Sting, she performed everywhere from Øya Festival and Barn On The Farm to Citadel Festival and DCODE.
