Warner Music Canada recording artist Philip Sayce has announced today the September 30th release date for his new album, Scorched Earth (Vol. 1). The album is the first in what is intended to be a series of live recordings capturing the guitarist’s incendiary live performances. Scorched Earth (Vol. 1) was recorded on April 14, 2016 at the Silver Dollar Room in Sayce’s hometown of Toronto, Canada.
“Clapton, Page, Hendrix…Philip Sayce. The young guitarist reviving blues-rock.”
– London Metro, UK

“I try to approach and experience live performances as a vehicle for an energy exchange between everyone involved,” says Philip. “I'm committed to going deeper - inside & out - each time I have the opportunity to step on stage & speak my truth through music.”
Born in Wales and raised in Toronto, Canada, Philip Sayce’s love of the guitar started at an early age when his parents introduced him to all of the classics, notably, Clapton, Hendrix, and Beck. He started playing guitar as a teen and before long was winning admirers at blues jam nights at Grossman’s Tavern in downtown Toronto. One such admirer was legendary guitarist Jeff Healey who invited Philip to join his band with whom he toured the world for the next couple of years. After a move to Los Angeles, producer John Shanks introduced Philip to Melissa Etheridge who recruited him for her band. Over the next several years Philip performed on Melissa Etheridge’s albums and was featured during her live sets on world tours.
After releasing three solo albums independently, Philip made his major label debut in 2015 with the album Influence. As the name suggests, the album combined songs written in honour of artists that have influenced Philip along with covers of songs that have helped shape his approach and love of music. The album spawned strong press notices and introduced him to many of his fellow countrymen for the first time.
“Influence is powerful enough to turn him in to Canada’s next homegrown guitar hero.”
– Toronto Sun
“…a career-best record. Influence is worth the wait.”
– Classic Rock Magazine, UK
Since the release of his earliest solo work, Philip has built a reputation on legendary live performance and fiery fretwork. His musical life hit a high point in 2013 with his unforgettable performance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival at New York’s Madison Square Garden. “It was a special experience that reinforced my love of music and commitment to honour the musical integrity of my heroes,” Sayce says. “I’m going out there in the studio and onstage to do my best and perform from my heart every time.”
